Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz didn’t match their Roland Garros final on Sunday at Wimbledon. But they did add another meaningful chapter to their already must-see rivalry as Sinner shot back at Alcaraz, gaining revenge and his first Wimbledon title with the 4-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-4 victory.

Sinner (16.42 UTR Rating) went four for nine on break points against Alcaraz. He crucially got out front early in the second, third, and fourth sets, and did well under pressure on his serve.

Alcaraz (16.37 UTR) experienced an off-serving day and landed only 53% of his first serves. The Spaniard also donated seven double faults, although he combatted those with 15 aces, nearly more than double Sinner’s total of eight.

Sinner dominated the mid-length rallies that lasted in between 5-8 shots, winning 62% of such rallies (31/50), according to The Athletic. He also controlled the advantage in the quicker points (0-4 shots), winning 87 against Alcaraz’s 82. The only rally category that Alcaraz won were those for the highlight reel (9+ shots): Alcaraz won 11 of the 18.

Sinner snapped Alcaraz’s five-match winning streak in their engaging head-to-head matchup. Before Sunday, Sinner’s last victory against his rival was in October 2023 in Beijing.

With his first Wimbledon title, Sinner brings his Grand Slam haul to four, including the 2024 Australian Open, 2024 US Open, and 2025 Australian Open. This was Sinner’s first major championship not on hard courts, and he positioned himself well heading into the 2025 US Open.
