How does Junior Team Tennis Work?

In Junior Team Tennis, boys and girls play fun, level-based matches in a team environment. All matches count towards players' Verified UTR Ratings, and players compete for playoff spots. Players and coaches also can easily view their team schedules, rosters, and results on the UTR Sports Junior Team Tennis software. Join or login to find open leagues.

What's Junior Team Tennis format?

Two Junior Team Tennis formats exist. Matchups have multiple singles and doubles lines, similar to college tennis. Players can compete on a small team (four singles and two doubles matches), or on a large team (six singles and three doubles matches). There are four Junior Team Tennis divisions by UTR Rating: 1-3, 3-5, 5-7, 7+, as well as four season: winter, spring, summer, and fall. Join or login to find open leagues.

What is Junior Team Tennis?

In Junior Team Tennis, boys and girls play tennis on a team with their friends and encourage each other during team matches. Junior Team Tennis is all the fun and competition of tennis while on a team with friends!

Junior Team Tennis with UTR Sports is for boys and girls under the age of 18 looking to play level-based tennis matches on teams.

How does Junior Team Tennis registration work?

Boys and girls can register to play Junior Team Tennis at a facility near them and compete with similarly-skilled players, as evaluated by the players’ UTR Ratings. There are currently four divisions of Junior Team Tennis by UTR Rating: 1-3, 3-5, 5-7, and 7+.

Can you play Junior Team Tennis and high school tennis?

In some U.S. states, you can play Junior Team Tennis and high school tennis at the same time. But in other U.S. states, you cannot play Junior Team Tennis and high school tennis.

It's completely dependent on the state in which you live. Be sure to check your high school state athletic association bylaws for complete clarity.

How does Junior Team Tennis work for clubs and providers?

From the provider standpoint, providers can organize fair and competitive match-ups based on UTR Rating, which updates daily to reflect a player’s current skill level based on head-to-head results.

“[UTR Sports Junior Team Tennis] is a great way for anyone to set up a league with competitive matches because you can say players have to be a certain UTR Rating range, and you know it will produce good matches,” said Mary Cornell, league manager at Life Time Minnesota. “By narrowing the rating range, you’re getting better quality matches.”
