WHY IS UTR PICKLEBALL RATING THE BEST?
What to know...
- UTR Sports has over a decade of experience in building world-class comprehensive global ratings.
- UTR Pickleball Rating is fully integrated into the most comprehensive and best-in-breed event, tournament, and league software.
- UTR-P has more investment, expertise, and experience than any other pickleball rating. UTR-P is based on points won, NOT games, and it updates every 24 hours.
- UTR-P is the most reliable pickleball rating: Players with less than 6 matches have no impact on players with more than 6 matches. This prevents sandbagging! Players must be close enough in level for the match to count.

Which divisions do pickleball tournaments have?
UTR Sports pickleball tournaments have all kinds of divisions. The biggest tournaments that UTR Sports hosts and operates are USA Pickleball Golden Ticket tournaments. Those tournaments typically have the following divisions: men's and women's doubles, mixed doubles, and men’s and women’s singles; for the following age groups: 19+, 30+, 40+, 50+, 55+, 60+, 65+, 70+, 75+, 80+.
Let’s dive into each one:
- Men’s and women’s doubles: In men’s and women’s doubles, two similarly-skilled players compete on the same side of the net against two other, similarly-skilled players. All the players on the court at the same time are of similar ages and similar UTR Pickleball Ratings.
- Mixed doubles: Mixed doubles at pickleball tournaments is a fun and different format as it features men and women competing alongside each other. One man and one woman compete against another man and woman team. Like in same-gendered doubles, all the players on the court are of similar ages and similar UTR Pickleball Ratings. Both types of doubles remain incredibly popular in pickleball. For instance, at some USA Pickleball Golden Ticket tournaments, there are four days of doubles play and only one day of singles play.
- Men’s and women’s singles: But men’s and women’s singles is still a popular and great way to play pickleball, get exercise, and enjoy the sport. In singles, you don’t have anyone else on your side; it’s just you against the other player, who is of similar age and skill level in UTR Sports tournaments.
How do I register for pickleball tournaments?
Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to register for pickleball tournaments with UTR Sports.
To begin, to register for an event, you'll first need to sign onto UTRSports.net or download the UTR Sports iOS app. (If you don't already have an account on UTRSports.net, you'll need to create one and activate your profile.)
Pro Tip: Make sure you sign in using the account of the player you wish to register! For example, parents or guardians should make sure they're signed in with their child's account, rather than their own. For more info, check out I'm Trying to Register My Child.

What's the best way to prepare for pickleball tournaments?
You prepare for pickleball tournaments by… playing pickleball! You know what they say? Practice makes… progress! Play, practice, play, practice. Of course you don’t want to overdue it but a healthy amount of practice and matchplay will help you prepare well for a pickleball tournament.
You also want to be sure you’re exercising regularly before your pickleball tournament. You don’t want to not play for months and then play for five consecutive days. That’s a good way to get injured because of overuse or just because of tight muscles. So be sure you’re in shape and staying in good physical shape for pickleball tournaments.
You’ll also want to follow these classic rules of tournament preparation as well: drink lots of water, eat healthy food before and during the event, and have fun!
