For dozens of players at the 2025 US Open, the road to New York has gone through the UTR Pro Tennis Tour (UTR PTT), UTR Sports’ innovative and dynamic tour for rising pro tennis players.

A total of 61 former and current UTR PTT players and champions are competing in singles qualifying or main draws at the season’s final Grand Slam tournament, which started qualifying play on Monday.

That number is the highest tally of PTT-connected players who have competed at any major championship this year. In the past two seasons, only the 2024 US Open featured more players who had previously competed on the UTR PTT.

Players everywhere love the guaranteed matchplay and substantial prize money found on the UTR PTT, as well as the high level of guaranteed competition.

The UTR PTT also features events around the world (more than 450 in 30-plus countries this year), allowing players to save travel expenses that they can reinvest in their careers.

“It's super great that the UTR PTTs are held in a variety of locations. I was very lucky to play a PTT event in College Station, which is where I go to school,” said Mary Stoiana, a two-time UTR PTT champion who recently graduated from Texas A&M and is competing in the 2025 US Open qualifying draw.

“I would definitely recommend playing PTTs to other college players. It gets you familiar with the match volume that you're going to be experiencing throughout your time playing college tennis, and it's a very great event for developing your game, because, like I said, no matter win or lose, you're always guaranteed multiple matches, so you can always get right back out there and work on something that you would like. And I found it very beneficial to developing my game.”

Stoiana (11.50 UTR Rating) is one of 44 former UTR PTT players competing in the men’s or women’s qualifying draws. She faces ninth seed Shuai Zhang (UTR 12.07), who reached a career-high of No. 22 in the WTA Rankings in January 2023.

In addition, 17 players are competing in the main draws, where play gets underway on Sunday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center.

American Taylor Townsend (UTR 12.07) is leading the way for the women. Townsend, the No. 1 doubles player in the world, began her comeback after giving birth to her son with a UTR PTT title in Bradenton, Fla.

She’s also competing in the US Open women’s doubles draw and in the reimagined US Open Mixed Doubles Championship, where she is playing with former PTT player and two-time Grand Slam semifinalist Ben Shelton of the U.S.
