The Spaniard became only the third man in the Open era to save at least one championship point and still win the Grand Slam title. UTR Sports details the epic final by the numbers:

5:29

Five hours, 29 minutes is the length of the match, the second-longest Grand Slam final in the Open era. Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal competed for five hours, 53 minutes in the 2012 Australian Open final, which Djokovic won.

3

The number of championship points that Alcaraz saved. The 22-year-old was down 0/40, 3-5 in the fourth set yet saved all three and then broke Sinner in the 10th game to bring it back on serve.

Gaston Gaudio became the first man to save a championship point in a Grand Slam final and win the match when he outlasted Guillermo Coria in the 2004 French Open title match, 0-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-1, 8-6.

Fifteen years later, Novak Djokovic memorably saved two consecutive match points against Roger Federer down 7-8 in the fifth set before winning 7-6(5), 1-6, 7-6(4), 4-6, 13-12(3).

5

The number of major championships that Alcaraz has now won. The Spaniard is 5-0 in Grand Slam finals, two away from Roger Federer’s blistering 7-0 start. Djokovic lost his first major final at the 2007 US Open and was 3-2 after five finals. Nadal also started 3-2 in Grand Slam title matches, although he was also 22 years old when he was on his fifth major title.

193

The number of points that Sinner won, compared to Alcaraz’s 192. In the classic 2019 final, Federer also won more points than Djokovic (218 to 204) despite losing the match.

20

The Grand Slam-winning streak that world No. 1 Sinner had built up before losing in Sunday’s final. Sinner, the champion of the 2024 US Open and 2025 Australian Open, was attempting to join Rod Laver, Pete, Sampras, Federer, Nadal and Djokovic as the only men in the Open era to have won three consecutive majors.

UTR Sports INSIGHTS had Sinner as the 54% favorite to win the title. During the entire two-week event, the male player with the higher UTR Rating won 76% of the time (95 of 125 matches).
