The 2026 Australian Open is underway, and current and former UTR Pro Tennis Tour (UTR PTT) players are ready to start the year strong Down Under.

A total of 66 current and former UTR PTT players and champions are competing in singles qualifying or the main draw at the season’s first Grand Slam, which began qualifying play on Monday.

This marks the highest number of PTT-connected players to compete at the Australian Open since the UTR PTT launched in 2021. In fact, only one Grand Slam over the past two seasons, the 2024 US Open, featured more players with UTR PTT experience.

Globally, rising professionals are drawn to the UTR PTT for its guaranteed match play, meaningful prize money, and consistently high level of competition. With more than 450 events held in over 30 countries, the tour also allows players to reduce travel costs and reinvest those savings into their careers.

Scotland’s Jacob Fearnley, a former UTR PTT player, faces Poland’s Kamil Majchrzak in the first round of the 2026 Australian Open.

“I played PTT events at the start of my professional career, and I’m a big believer in the format, with guaranteed matches and guaranteed prize money,” said Fearnley, currently ranked No. 77 in the world.

A four-time All-American at TCU, Fearnley surged into the ATP Top 100 after capturing four ATP Challenger titles in a single season. He is one of 33 men with UTR PTT experience competing in qualifying or main-draw action, which begins Sunday in Melbourne.

Another former UTR PTT standout, Learner Tien, arrives in Melbourne fresh off his 2025 Next Gen ATP Finals title. The American will be seeded at a Grand Slam for the first time, entering as the No. 25 seed and opening against compatriot Marcos Giron.

On the women’s side, No. 29 seed Iva Jovic leads the group of current and former UTR PTT players. Jovic, who competed at the UTR PTT Newport Beach event in 2022, starts her Grand Slam season against Katie Volynets in an all-UTR PTT matchup.

Volynets, a former UTR PTT finalist, will be seeking her first Australian Open main-draw victory (0-3).
