Another Grand Slam final, another showdown between Carlos Alcaraz (UTR Rating 16.45) and Jannik Sinner (16.41). The men’s 2025 US Open wrapped up on Sunday afternoon with Alcaraz defeating Sinner, 6–2, 3–6, 6–1, 6–4, cementing his place at the top of the tennis stage.
“I feel like this is the best tournament,” Alcaraz said. “Since the first rounds to the end of the tournament, the best tournament so far that I have ever played. The consistency of my level during the whole tournament has been really, really high, which I'm really proud of, because it's something that I've been working on, to be really consistent.”

There was an unusual 37-minute delay to the start of the men’s final due to added security measures and getting fans into their seats safely. The reason? President Donald Trump attended the match, the first president to do so in 25 years.

The number of times Alcaraz and Sinner have faced each other so far. The Spaniard leads the rivalry, 10-5 and has won their last seven out of eight showdowns (notably losing the 2025 Wimbledon final).
“So what I learned mostly this year is about to take moments of every tournament, of every experience that you living and enjoy, and enjoy with my team, with my family, with the people you have around,” Alcaraz said. “I think it's great to take a moment, see the trophy or see what you have done in the tournament, and appreciate that, keep it going, and enjoy.”

The “New Two” as they’re being called have firmly established themselves as the players to beat, having combined to win the last eight Grand Slams. It’s the longest streak since Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal compiled 11 consecutive major titles from 2005-2007.

By winning their semifinals on Friday, Alcaraz and Sinner became the first duo to compete in three Grand Slam finals against each other during the same season in the Open Era. Alcaraz took out Novak Djokovic in straight sets, while Sinner bested Canadian Felix Auger-Aliassime.
The winner of the final was destined to be the ATP No. 1 on Monday, meaning Alcaraz returns to the top position for the first time since September 2023 (Sinner had been No. 1 for 65 consecutive weeks). But it’s not so in the rankings by UTR Ratings where Sinner remains in the No. 1 position with a 0.04 higher UTR Rating.
