UTR Sports College Circuits Expand into Canada

UTR Sports is excited to announce the expansion of College Circuits into Canada. It marks the first time since the launch in June of 2022 that UTR will create these open, prize-money events outside the U.S.

UTR Sports created College Circuits to attract the best players nationwide and provide college and junior players with more opportunities to play competitive matches throughout the year. “Open” means anyone can play, including aspiring and active college players, high-level juniors, and adults. Players are accepted based on UTR Rating, and there are no age restrictions.

College Circuits events use a tiered prize-money system, which encourages players to sign up as early as possible to increase the amount of prize money and the level of the event. Since the launch, UTR Sports has created 200 College Circuits events and awarded more than $58K in prize money.

Prize money is only guaranteed if the number of registered players meets the prize money tier qualifications below:

Tier 5 (128+ Players): $2,500
Tier 4 (96-127 Players): $2,000
Tier 3 (64-95 Players): $1,500
Tier 2 (32-63 Players): $1,000
Tier 1 (0-32 Players): $0

The first-ever College Circuits tournament in Canada event will take September 19-22, 2024 in Calgary, Alberta at the Aforza Tennis Club (register here). Two more Canada events are planned for November 7-10, 2024, and April 24-27, 2025.

“We are extremely excited to partner with UTR Sports to introduce their one-of-a-kind College Circuit tournaments to Canada,” said Jeff Spiers, the executive director and co-owner at Aforza Tennis Club. “UTR Sports is the premier organization when it comes to delivering competitive opportunities for players of all ages and abilities. It is an exciting time for not only Aforza but also for Canada as a whole. UTR Sports College Circuit tournaments provide college athletes and players with a great competitive environment and give up-and-coming highly ranked juniors the opportunity to test their skills against great players.”

By playing in a College Circuits event, players can compete against high-level players and college athletes with a chance to win prize money while experiencing different college campuses

The College Circuits calendar through the end of 2024 also includes events in the U.S. at Brown University, Reinhardt, Cal State Fullerton, Belmont, Tufts, North Texas, Georgia Gwinnett College, and more.

Expanding College Circuits into Canada will provide tremendous value to the existing network of UTR Sports providers and players. Providers run the events and receive a 50/50 revenue split with UTR Sports, which provides the balls, prize money, event setup, and marketing.
