The Universal Tennis Foundation is honored to announce the 55 high schools from across the country who have been selected this year to receive grants from the Scholars & Scores Count! High School Grant Program. The Foundation is proud to further its mission of enhancing tennis at the grassroots level and fostering the development of student-athletes across the country in economically disadvantaged communities.
Following a successful launch in 2023, the Scholars & Scores Count! doubled in size in 2024 and 2025 thanks to the generous contributions of donors who have helped make the program possible. Since 2023, the Foundation has supported 132 high school tennis programs.
“We are deeply grateful for the Universal Tennis Foundation’s generous support of the KHS Tennis program, as well as the other deserving programs awarded, which help expose our students to the sport of tennis,” said Franki Foster, head tennis coach at Kendrick High School. “The generosity makes it possible for us to provide meaningful experiences that build not only athletic skill, but also teamwork, confidence, and character.”
The 55 grants of $1,000 each support almost 2,000 student-athletes, helping to increase access to tennis and create lasting opportunities for young players. Of the 55 schools, 35 are located in high poverty communities where 80% or more of the students are on federal free and reduced lunch programs.
“We are honored to be among the 55 schools chosen from such a highly competitive pool of applicants,” said Wendy M. Golston, Director of Athletics at Carver High School. “This generous support will directly benefit our student-athletes by providing resources that enhance their development both on and off the court. The Foundation’s investment in our program affirms the value of tennis in building character, discipline, and community, and we are excited to use these funds to continue growing the sport at Carver.”
This year’s recipients reflect the diversity and strength of high school athletics nationwide. From Morton West High School in Illinois and Carver High School in Atlanta to Orosi High School in California and Mathis High School in Texas, the grant-winning schools span 24 states.
“With these funds, we’ll be able to purchase much-needed equipment that will strengthen our growing program and make a lasting impact on our student-athletes,” said Fidel Aguilar Rebollar, tennis coach at Navarro Early College High School.
