Over 40 events and four new countries have been added, bringing the total prize money over $7M
Palo Alto, CA - Today, Universal Tennis announced the addition of 43 events to the 2022 UTR Pro Tennis Tour calendar, bringing the annual total to more than 180 events through December in the Americas, Europe, and Asia/Pacific.
The UTR Pro Tennis Tour (PTT) launched in January 2021 with a three-year investment of more than $20 million to provide players ranked 200-2000 with valuable guaranteed matches and prize money. Every UTR PTT event has a minimum $25K financial commitment.
The PTT continues to deliver value to aspiring pro players providing a way to boost their earnings and improve their game. Pros can get a sense of their level by competing in PTT events and developing their games to move up to the ATP/WTA and Grand Slam level.
UTR Pro Tennis Tour events are taking place all over the world from the U.S. and Australia to Japan and Italy.
Several PTT players are competing at the Grand Slam level already, including Liv Hovde, Michael Zheng, Alec Michelsen, Sebastian Gorzny, Ben Shelton, and Learner Tien. At Wimbledon, Hovde won the junior girls’ title, Zheng reached the boys’ final, and Gorzny and Michelsen won the boys’ doubles crown. Hovde made her pro US Open qualifying debut while Shelton and Tien will appear in the main draw next week.
Eleven-time PTT champion Marcela Zacarias made her Wimbledon qualifying debut, returning to the Grand Slam level for the first time since 2016.
“When I found out about the PTT, I was like I need to play these tournaments to help my career and to start traveling more,” Zacarias said. “A lot of ITF and WTA players are competing on PTT, so the level is really high. It’s really good to play these tournaments because you get a lot of matches and it’s good for your confidence.”
