Universal Tennis Announced as Presenting Partner for Atlanta Open College Night

Universal Tennis is officially the presenting partner of College Night at the Atlanta Open, an ATP 250 event taking place July 22-30 in Atlanta, Ga.

College Night presented by Universal Tennis will be on Tuesday, July 25, and will showcase Georgia Tech’s Andres Martin in a night match against a to-be-determined opponent. The 32-player field includes the likes of Taylor Fritz, Alex de Minaur, Ben Shelton, Kei Nishikori, John Isner, and Gael Monfils.

During last year’s Atlanta Open College Night, Martin stunned Thanasi Kokkinakis in his ATP 250 debut. Martin, a 22-year-old Georgia native, is heading into his senior year at the same program where Christopher Eubanks developed his game before going on to reach this year's Wimbledon quarterfinals.

College Night presented by Universal Tennis showcases college tennis as a pathway to the professional ranks, a concept that Universal Tennis supports by creating opportunities for players to develop their games for the next level through Universal Tennis College Circuits and the UTR Pro Tennis Tour (PTT).

“We are thrilled to partner with the Atlanta Open and sponsor College Night,” said Chase Hodges, Universal Tennis Vice President. “Universal Tennis is committed to elevating and innovating college tennis and we are excited to see all the success that collegiate players are having on the professional tour."

Launched in 2021, the PTT has streamed over 20,000 matches featuring thousands of college players globally, awarding more than $14 million in total prize money. Earlier this year, the PTT launched on Amazon Prime, further exposing college tennis to a wider audience.

Martin has benefitted from all that the PTT offers in terms of quality competition, prize money, and game development, having won two titles in 2021 as he continues his progress toward a pro career.

As a leader in college tennis, Universal Tennis has proven and established itself as the official technology and solution provider with the best and most proven rating and ranking, tournament and event technology, performance data, and analytics.

In March, Universal Tennis launched the UTR College Match Challenge at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, providing collegiate tennis with valuable exposure.

In May, Universal Tennis hosted the first-ever Universal Tennis National Invitational Tennis Championship (NIT Championship) with eight men’s and eight women’s college teams participating in a postseason competition in Atlanta, Ga.

The launch of the NIT Championships follows the formation of the Universal Tennis Collegiate Alliance (UTCA), which was created at the start of the year to support the future of all college programs in the United States and consists of 12 head coaches across all college tennis divisions to help guide and drive innovation and growth in the sport.

Universal Tennis has a proven track record of rapid innovation and enabling domestic and international recruiting with the gold-standard UTR Rating for assessing talent. Universal Tennis generates millions in revenue for college programs each year — Universal Tennis College Camps is a leader after only the initial year of launch, and more than 4,000 players have competed on Universal Tennis College Circuits.
