UTR Powered by Oracle Partners with Champions Bowl
Champions Bowl and Universal Tennis Powered by Oracle (UTR) are excited to announce a new partnership, under which results from Champions Bowl matches will now be included in Universal Tennis Rating (UTR) Powered by Oracle.
UTR Powered by Oracle is a revolutionary system that provides a single, unifying language and standard for tennis players across ages, geographies and gender. UTR’s vision is to unify tennis for everyone by bringing cutting-edge analytics and community-based technology to players worldwide independent of level.
The Champions Bowl is an international tournament for players aged 9 to 16, played according to the player´s year of birth, for both boys & girls. “We are excited to work with UTR Powered by Oracle to include Champions Bowl results in their global rating system. UTR is the most accurate and reliable way for players, coaches and organizers to measure tennis skill level across gender, age and location. The benefits to the game of tennis are immense and we are excited to be a part of this groundbreaking system,” said Boris Monsberger, co-founder and co-owner of Champions Bowl.
In 2017, the Champions Bowl tournament moved to Umag Tennis Academy in Croatia and players will face qualified peers from around the world from 9 - 16th of September 2018. All the scores will be included in the UTR Powered by Oracle database, which has more than 7M match results from 700,000+ players across 200 countries and is growing daily. All tennis players participating in Champions Bowl final event will be able to get their UTR, compare themselves to players around the world, search players and track their progress.
“We are excited to welcome Champions Bowl to the UTR Powered by Oracle system,” said Mark Leschly, CEO & Chairman of Universal Tennis. “Now, players competing in Champions Bowl can get rated and compare themselves to players worldwide via UTR’s unifying language and standard.”
How the rating works:
UTR Powered by Oracle is an algorithm-based system for tennis that allows anyone to identify, measure, track and develop the level of a player. Every player receives a rating between 1 - 16.5 that reflects their level of play. Three factors go into the rating: player competition (ie strength of opponent), the score (based on games won), and recent history (last 30 matches played within 12 months). Players can use their UTR to know their skill level and find hitting partners and events within their levels. Coaches can use UTR to evaluate player ability and organize events based around skill level, rather than age or gender.
UTR Powered by Oracle has strategic partnerships with Tennis Channel, Oracle, OrangeCoach, Les Petits As – Le Mondial Lacoste, Cliff Drysdale Management, IMG Academy, International Tennis Hall of Fame, Good to Great Tennis Academy, Kim Clijsters Academy, and many others. UTR Powered by Oracle is the official rating system for Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA), World TeamTennis (WTT), Professional Tennis Registry (PTR), and the United States Professional Tennis Association (USPTA).
