USP Launches the USP International UTR Circuit To Complement ITF Events
University Sports Program (USP), a pioneer company in college tennis placement and recruiting events, announced today that the second stop of its USP International UTR Circuit (following its opening in the Caribbean), will be Florida—specifically, the cities of Delray Beach, Coral Gables, and Plantation—this May.
These events were created to provide players with competitive match play in a flexible playing format, in a way that feeds their Universal Tennis Rating (UTR), and improves their chances to be recruited for a college team, all while complementing their International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament participation.
“We always thought that ITF tournaments are such an investment and a put-all-your-eggs-in-one-basket kind of situation,” Thomas Anderson, USP President stated. “Players spend lots of money to travel to a tournament where only 30 percent of them will play more than one match and receive ITF points. Consider that most of them play the three ITFs, and you have players wasting most of their week just waiting to go to the next tournament.”
Anderson said that the USP International UTR Circuit brings a balance for all those who have a gap while waiting for the next tournament. It keeps them playing level-based matches in an interactive environment. Participants can sign up at circuit.universitysports.com and choose the days when they want to participate. Unlike traditional tournaments, the USP Circuit puts players in a round-robin draw with others at the same level of skill, as organized by UTR.
