Tournament Spotlight: California Championships

The inaugural California Championships came to an exciting close last Saturday, with Sam Querrey (UTR 15.46) beating out University of Oregon senior Thomas Laurent (UTR 14.34) 6-3, 6-4 to take the title of California Champion. Thank you to all who played and those of you who followed along on Facebook Watch! Check out some of our favorite moments from the tournament.

1. Thomas Laurent (UTR 14.34), University of Oregon Senior, had a huge run at the tourney. He began play on Sunday and made it to the final round to face off against Sam Querrey (UTR 14.45). He beat top collegiate players and pros to play against Sam in the final round:

4. Brandon Holt (UTR 14.31) and USC No.1, talks about his big win over Taylor Fritz (UTR 15.26)

5. Players of all levels participated! Here are fellow California Championship competitors John Despot (UTR 8.08) and tournament champion Sam Querrey (UTR 15.46). John won 4 matches in the Saturday and Sunday community play-in and returned to watch (and work) the finals.
