Top 10 UTR Ratings Movers for 2024 Men's Pro Tennis Season

Every season, there are players who make big moves in the rankings, and 2024 was no different.

As we look back at the year that was, there are definitely many players competing on the pro tour who can be pleased with their improvement.

This includes players at different stages of their career, such as rising men's tennis stars whom tennis fans will want to keep an eye on, longtime pros finding their form and finally making significant inroads, as well as players on the comeback trail.

Below is the top 10 list of men’s players with the biggest UTR Ratings upwards trajectory over the 2024 season.

Alejandro Tabilo – 14.54 to 15.49 (↑ 0.94)

A breakout star on the ATP Tour this season, Alejandro Tabilo saw his UTR Rating rise by nearly one whole point thanks to a stellar 2024.

He won his first two ATP titles, at Auckland and Mallorca (both ATP 250 tournaments), and reached his first Masters 1000 semifinal at Rome.

He hit his current career-high world ranking of No. 19 in July and is entrenching himself in the ATP Top 30.

Zizou Bergs – 14.59 to 15.39 (↑ 0.79)

Zizou Bergs advanced to the third round at Roland Garros this year as a qualifier, his furthest run yet at a Grand Slam.

This is one of the impressive results that helped Bergs increase both his UTR Rating and ATP Ranking in 2024.

At the start of November, he’s sitting at a career-high of No. 61, halving his starting position from January.

Since winning an ATP Challenger in April, he’s been able to play solely ATP Tour events the rest of the year as his status climbed.

Shang Juncheng – 14.67 to 15.40 (↑ 0.73)

The No. 1-ranked junior in the world three years ago, Shang is the second-youngest player in the Top 100 at the age of 19 and the first born in 2005 or later to win an ATP title.

He accomplished the feat at Chengdu, a 250-level tournament, in September, proving he is one of the brightest rising stars on the ATP Tour.

He’s peaked this year at No. 47, more than 100 spots higher than he began 2024.

Flavio Cobolli – 14.71 to 15.39 (↑ 0.68)

One of the ATP’s newest top talents, Flavio Cobolli has bounced all the way into the Top 30 this year after starting 2024 at world No. 100.

A member of champion Team Europe at Laver Cup in September, the 22-year-old has been steadily ascending the past few years. But his biggest jump has been that into the upper echelon of the sport – where he gains direct entry into ATP events. Among his top highlights is making his first ATP final at Washington, a 500-level tournament.

Mattia Bellucci – 14.60 to 15.26 (↑ 0.67)

It’s been a career year for the rising Mattia Bellucci. In July, the 23-year-old qualified for his first ATP Tour main draw in Atlanta and proceeded to advance all the way to the quarterfinals.

He also made it through qualifying at the last three Grand Slams of the year and secured his maiden major match win at the US Open, defeating Stan Wawrinka.

Bellucci was world No. 200 back in February but is now tapping on the door of the Top 100.

David Goffin – 14.72 to 15.37 (↑ 0.65)

Former world No. 7 David Goffin has had a resurgence in 2024. After dropping outside the Top 100 last year and falling as low as No. 134 earlier this season, Goffin has clawed back to a current No. 52 and is again playing deep into tournaments.

Among his top results are the third round at the US Open (where he ousted Tabilo in the first round), quarterfinals of the 1000-level Shanghai (besting No. 3 Alexander Zverev in the fourth round) and quarterfinals of Basel, an ATP 500 tournament.

Valentin Vacherot – 14.11 to 14.73 (↑ 0.61)

Former Texas A&M standout Valentin Vacherot has made major inroads on the ATP Challenger Tour this year, winning three titles and making two more semifinals.

He also qualified for his first Grand Slam main draw at Roland Garros. The 25-year-old’s climb was stalled late this summer as he had to retire in the second round of US Open qualifying and hasn’t played since with a shoulder injury.

Jaume Munar – 14.66 to 15.22 (↑ 0.57)

A Top 100 player for much of the past six years, Jaume Munar’s UTR Rating has jumped more than half a point this season.

His best results include winning an ATP Challenger in Bad Waltersdorf, Austria, in September and making two other finals. He also advanced into the second round at the Australian Open, Roland Garros, and Wimbledon.

Mitchell Krueger – 14.16 to 14.71 (↑ 0.55)

At age 30, Mitchell Krueger has been around the sport of tennis for a long time. But he achieved a new milestone this year – reaching the third round of a Slam for the first time.

He did so at the US Open, in what was only the fourth Slam main draw of his career. Krueger’s strong tennis this year has been huge for his UTR Rating and rankings bump.

He started 2024 at world No. 283 and is currently No. 144, just shy of his 2022 career-high of No. 135.

Paul Jubb – 14.21 to 14.73 (↑ 0.53)

After a tough 2023, which saw him miss much of the year with injury, Paul Jubb started this season at world No. 669. He has since hit new peaks, thanks in part to making his first ATP semifinal at Mallorca (and scoring his maiden Top 20 win en route over Ben Shelton).

Jubb, who played at the University of South Carolina from 2016-2020, is now up to career-high of No. 180, having previously only spent one week inside the Top 200 back in 2022.
