Top 10 American Men & Women in College Tennis

You may have been following our Freshmen to Watch series, in which the top college freshmen players discussed their transition to collegiate tennis and balancing academics and athletics. Today, we’re taking a look at the top American men and women players in collegiate tennis. From freshmen newbies to the seasoned seniors, these players have been dominating the courts this year. Players have been sorted based on their current UTRs, which take into account up to 30 matches played within the last 12 months creating the rating based on score, the strength of competition and match history. Leading the pack for the men is Alex Rybakov, a junior at TCU. Hailing from Coral Springs, FL, Rybakov has been named the Big 12 Player of the Week twice in his collegiate career. This season, Rybakov has been playing at the #1 and #2 singles spot, with just one tight loss in February to Benjamin Sigouin (UTR 14.50) of North Carolina. Top 10 US Players in College-2 On the women’s side, blue-chip recruit Michaela Gordon, a freshman at Stanford, is the top-rated American women’s player. In the fall season, Gordon won the ITA Northwest Regional Championships, becoming the first freshman player to win the title since 2012. The No.1 singles seed for Stanford, Gordon has already made a name for herself as a fierce competitor on the court.
