The California Championships is Almost Here! Here’s What You Need to Know

The California Championships presented by UTR Powered by Oracle is just a few days away! (Big news: registration has been extended! Register by 11:59 PM PT Sunday December 9- sign up now so you won’t be disappointed.) To help you ramp up for the tourney, take a look at some answers to our top FAQ’s: What is a staggered entry draw? How does it work? A staggered entry draw is an exciting UTR tournament format. Players enter into a staggered entry draw based on their UTR. The higher a player’s UTR, the later in the tournament they begin. Learn more at What is a Staggered Entry Draw. What time will I start playing? When will I be playing? Great question! The Level-Based Play in will run from 8 AM - 8 PM. While play will go on throughout the day, we anticipate that participants will only need to be onsite for a maximum of 4-5 hours. You will be given your start time once the draws are set. If I lose, will this affect my UTR? Not necessarily. The strength of UTR is that it measures the quality of your competition and your scores, not just your wins or losses. Like a swimmer who loses a race, but swims her best time, players get rewarded when they reach their own “personal best”. If you win by a greater margin than expected, you’ll get a little “lift”.
