National Tennis Month: Provider Playbook

Everything you need to plan, promote, and maximize your May National Tennis Month events

May is National Tennis Month and that's big for UTR Sports providers
By UTR SportsPublished

Why May Matters

May is the highest-demand month of the year for tennis participation.

  • More players are actively searching for matches, leagues, and events
  • Warmer weather + seasonal momentum = increased play frequency
  • New and returning players are most open to trying organized play

What this means for you: May isn’t just another month—it’s your best opportunity to fill courts, attract new players, and build lasting engagement heading into summer.

Providers who treat May as a program (not a single event) consistently see:

  • Higher registrations
  • Better player retention
  • Stronger June pipelines

UTR Sports’ National Tennis Month Incentives Overview

To support providers during National Tennis Month, UTR Sports is offering a combination of increased visibility, marketing support, and exclusive incentives—designed to help you both launch events and keep players coming back.

Provider Incentive: Build Your May Calendar

All providers who host a National Tennis Month event will receive a Fabletics item.

  • The goal: run at least 1 event per week (4 total in May)
  • More events = more opportunities to engage players and build consistency

Player Incentive: Drive Repeat Participation

To encourage ongoing play throughout the month:

  • One player from each event will receive a credit to the UTR Shop by Fabletics
  • This isn’t just for winners—National Tennis Month is about getting more players on court and having fun

What This Means for You

  • More reasons for players to register (and come back)
  • Built-in excitement and engagement across every event
  • A simple framework to turn May into a repeat play engine

What to do now:

  • Add your May events to your Digital Club
  • Aim for weekly programming to maximize both incentives
  • Use structured formats to keep players engaged throughout the month

Verified Event Formats That Work

You don’t need to reinvent your programming—just structure it in a way that keeps players engaged and coming back.

1. General Match Play

  • Flexible, low barrier to entry
  • Great for new and returning players
  • Encourages volume of matches in a short window
  • Best for: Open play, mixed-level groups, community engagement

2. 8-Game Pro Sets

  • Short, competitive format
  • Easy to schedule multiple matches in a single session
  • Ideal balance of structure + time efficiency
  • Best for: Adult players, evening/weeknight sessions

3. Singles Sets to 6

  • Familiar format for most players
  • Allows for verified results and meaningful competition
  • Works well across all levels
  • Best for: Players looking for more traditional match play
💡 Tip: Offer multiple sessions (weekly or bi-weekly) using the same format to build consistency and repeat participation.
