After a busy four weeks of tennis events all over the country, Universal Tennis is recognizing the newcomer, club, and event of the month for September.
Newcomer of the Month: Copper River Country Club (Fresno, California)
The Copper River Country Club runs weekly matchplay events as well as a monthly club-wide tournament at a facility with a golf course, restaurant, swimming pool, fitness center, 13 hard courts, and 2 clay courts.
The matchplay events are held every Friday and are open to all ages and UTR Ratings with free entry fees for Copper River players and just $10 for guests. The format is one match, best-of-three sets with a tiebreaker in lieu of the third set. The club also offers discounted Universal Tennis Power Subscriptions.
Club of the Month: Centercourt Club & Sports (Chatham, New Jersey)
Spread out across eight tennis facilities in New Jersey, Centercourt runs daily events, have most of their programming on Universal Tennis, and host events for all ages and levels. Events include singles matchplay for everyone, and orange and green ball match play for juniors. The club offers junior development, adult tennis, camps, and a performance academy.
Event of the Month: Bocage Racquet Club: Our Lady of Mercy Tennis Tournament (Baton Rouge, Louisiana)
Bocage Racquet Club hosted a fundraiser on Sept. 24-26 that attracted over 160 players to compete in 14 different level-based divisions including men's and women's doubles, and mixed doubles. Players wore all-white in accordance with the club's dress code, and all of the proceeds went to Our Lady of Mary Catholic School, an elementary school in Baton Rouge. The event included dinner on Friday night and lunch Saturday as well as refreshments and player gifts.
