It’s the End of the #RoadtoNCAAs!

The time is here! After two weeks of challenging, inspiring and hard-fought collegiate tennis, we are down to the final teams vying to claim the title of NCAA Champion. During the semi-finals the four mens and womens teams faced on-court challenges and challenges from Mother Nature, with one match experiencing a three-hour rain delay. Hopefully the weather will hold up tomorrow, where Stanford will take on against Vanderbilt for the women and the Ohio State Buckeye men will battle the home team and No. 1 seed Wake Forest Deacons. On the women’s side, No.15 Stanford University Cardinals face off against No. 2 Vanderbilt University Commodores at 1 PM ET at Wake Forest. The Stanford women beat out No. 3 ranked Duke University to make it to the center court at Wake Forest. During this championship season, Stanford defeated No. 2 seed North Carolina and No. 7 seed Georgia, with a season record of 27-3. The Cardinals claimed the NCAA Championship title in 2016, coincidentally when they were also the No. 15 seed. The Vanderbilt women are fighting to prove their No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament. The Commodores beat out No. 4 seed Georgia Tech over the weekend in the semis, and hold a 27-3 record this year. Stanford and Vanderbilt met once this year in February, where Vanderbilt beat Stanford (then the No. 1 seed) 7-0.

As for the men, the home team No. 1 seed Wake Forest will take on No. 3 Ohio State at 5 PM ET at Wake Forest. The 32-4 Buckeyes defeated No. 2 seeded UCLA 4-1 to advance to the final in a nearly seven-hour outdoor match with two weather delays. This was Ohio State’s 22nd consecutive win this season and the fifth meeting between the teams in the NCAA Tournament. Tomorrow marks the second time in program history that the Buckeye men advance to the championship. The No. 1 Wake Forest Deacons defeated No. 5 Texas A&M in a hard-fought 4-3 battle on Monday evening that included one three-hour weather delay, followed by another 50 minute weather delay. Wake Forest is 30-2 this season This will be the first appearance at the NCAA Championships in program history for Wake Forest (holding the No. 1 seed no less!) and the second in program history for the Buckeyes.
