Universal Tennis and the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) have announced the Top Movers of the Month for October. Two players were selected by UTR Rating* from each division (Division I, II, and III, Junior College, and NAIA).
Men's Division I biggest ITA Mover of the Month, Andre Ilagan (UTR Rating 13.67), is a junior at the University of Hawaii where get plays at the No. 1 position. He improved his UTR Rating by +0.51 with a run to the semifinals of the ITA All-American Championships.
The winner of the All-Americans was University of Florida sophomore Ben Shelton (UTR Rating 14.45), who bumped his UTR Rating up by +0.24. Shelton has had a stellar college career already by helping the Gators win the program's first team NCAA Championships in May.
Alana Smith (UTR Rating 10.93), a senior at North Carolina State, is the biggest mover of the month on the women's side. After wrapping up the dual season at the No. 2 position, she played ITFs in Tunisia where she won two doubles titles. She kicked off her fall college season by going 8-2 in singles and returning to compete mostly on the ITF Tour.
The highest UTR Rating on the Top 10 list belongs to Sarah Hamner (UTR Rating 11.260), a freshman from Boca Raton, Fla. playing for the University of South Carolina. She captured the ITA All-American Championships with a string of eight wins in a row to become the first Gamecock in program history to win the title.
Southeastern Oklahoma State University's Vanessa Cozamanis (UTR Rating 7.63) pushed her UTR Rating up by +0.35 by sweeping the B draw of the Central ITA Regional Championships.
Bowdoin College's Tristan Bradley (UTR Rating 11.66) has won two invitational tournaments in a row (eight total matches) after reaching the semifinals of the Division III New England ITA Regional Championships.
The next Top 10 list of monthly movers will be revealed in early December.
