Is Rafa the GOAT of Clay?

With the clay season in full swing, Rafael Nadal has earned his title as the King of Clay. But his performance this year has been one of complete and total domination. Rafa is clearly one of the top tennis players of all time, but on clay, he is in a league of his own. Today, Nadal’s 3 month Clay UTR is 16.49 - just one-hundredth of a decimal point short of perfection on the UTR Powered by Oracle rating system. (The algorithm measures players on a scale from 1 - 16.50, with 16.50 being the absolute highest.) Nadal is on one of the great winning streaks of all time - and it’s been incredible to watch. He has won every single set out of the past 46 he’s played on clay. His clay UTR has consistently been trending above 16.00 since the beginning of the year and has only been increasing steadily as the season goes on. For comparison, the next best clay court players, Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev, are tied at the number two spot with both holding a UTR 15.88. Nadal’s current trending UTR is higher than his Clay court rating ( which includes results from his clay performance last season). That means that he is actually getting better as the season goes on, and possibly reaching his peak clay performance of his tennis career.
