UTR Sports, creator of the global UTR Pro Tennis Tour (UTR PTT) and the world’s most accurate tennis rating, is bringing its fast-growing professional tour to the academy of David Ferrer this month in Spain.
The new partnership underscores growing momentum behind the UTR PTT model, delivering rising professionals guaranteed matches and considerable prize money. The Ferrer Tennis Academy will host a men’s UTR PTT event from May 25–31, with player registration open through May 11.
“Bringing the UTR Pro Tennis Tour to our academy represents a tremendous opportunity for both our players and the surrounding tennis community. As a former professional, I firmly believe that consistent match play is essential to player development and long-term success,” Ferrer said. “The PTT format, with its guaranteed matches, provides a valuable platform for our athletes while also enabling our coaching staff to closely evaluate performance and make informed adjustments to support continued growth.”
Designed to accelerate player development globally, the UTR PTT allows in-match coaching and guarantees multiple matches per event, both key advantages for players navigating the early stages of their professional careers. In 2026, the UTR PTT will deliver more than 20,000 matches across 400+ events in over 30 countries.
Ferrer hasn’t played since May 2019, when he retired after a celebrated 20-year career that saw him reach a career-high ranking of No. 3, win 27 ATP Tour titles, and make the 2013 Roland Garros final, where he fell to 22-time major champion Rafael Nadal.
“We’re thrilled to partner with David Ferrer and his team,” said Mark Leschly, CEO and Chairman of UTR Sports. “David understands better than most the importance of consistent competition in player development. We’re confident the UTR PTT event at his academy will deliver a world-class experience for every player in the draw.”
