Universal Tennis Announces Fall 2022 Junior National Pathway Schedule

For the first time since the launch of the Junior National Pathway in 2021, Universal Tennis is hosting a second Pathway in the same calendar year. The spring Junior National Pathway wrapped up in June in Georgia, and the fall Junior National Pathway schedule has just been announced (register now).

Maximizing College Exposure

The goal of the National Pathway is to expose junior players to the benefits of playing college tennis while allowing them to actually compete in front of college coaches (online and in-person). Fall Regionals will start in September (see the full schedule below). Venues include St. Mary's College, Chapman University, Old Dominion, Belmont, and more.

Players first compete in Regional events (eight boys' and eight girls' events) all over the nation in 13U, 15U, and 17U divisions. The winners of the 17U and 15U divisions qualify for Nationals (held Dec. 17-19 in San Diego, Calif.) where they will compete for championship titles and wild cards into 2023 UTR Pro Tennis Tour events. The Nationals entry list will also allow for eight at-large registrants per division, based on UTR Rating, to fill each draw of 16 players.

New Faces Win Nationals in Rome

Earlier this year, 16 Regional events took place nationwide followed by the Spring Junior National Championships at the Rome Tennis Center at Barry College in Georgia. Girls' 15U winner Elizabeth Fauchet and boys' 15U winner Lorenzo Brunkow enjoyed the added bonus of throwing the first pitch at the local Rome Braves game.

“What I love about playing here is playing the different types of players, getting to meet new styles, and just getting to meet new people,” Fauchet said.

Germany Davis and Shaurya Bharadwaj took home the 17U titles.

"The thing that really drew me to this tournament, is the exposure, the high level,” Davis said, “and the opportunities that came with winning it and the doors that are being open for me.”
