In our new series, we’ll be spotlighting tennis professionals and influencers from around the world, highlighting their efforts to grow and improve the game of tennis. Clay Bibbee is the CEO of Centercourt Tennis Academy/Athletic Club of Chatham and the Centercourt Club & Sports brand. He is a USPTA Master Professional and is certified as a USTA High Performance Coach. In addition to building the Centercourt brand, which consists of seven high-performance facilities in New Jersey, Clay has helped players to accomplish their tennis goals to play at the highest collegiate and professional levels. We asked Clay to tell us why he thinks level-based play is key to growing the game and give us the scoop on the news from Centercourt. Tell us more about Centercourt Club+Sports - what is your mission and what sets you apart? We maintain our leadership position in the tri-state area by creating and maintaining a pathway of success for athletes of all ages. Centercourt Club+Sports has become synonymous with excellence in the youth and family sports business by highlighting an active lifestyle while incorporating a social element to the sport. How do you see UTR benefitting the game of tennis? UTR is unique because it crosses both gender and geographic lines. It makes competitive play more accessible to players of all ages and genders. It is level based play and helps assure a more positive experience. One of the other benefits is the time efficiency factor. UTR is a tangible means of developing player development within specific timelines. Why did you decide to partner with UTR? It's clear by the partners that UTR has carefully selected that UTR is on the cutting edge of global tennis development. Centercourt is on the cutting edge of junior tennis development, hence its an obvious marriage. How will you be using UTR at Centercourt? We use UTR at Centercourt at every level, from our juniors to performance players as well as club players. We've developed leagues, tournaments and match play options at every level. Centercourt’s Performance Tennis Summer Camps utilize UTR to to divide our groups to create the most competitive training environment for our players, and allow them to participate in the UTR Shootout (Daily UTR matchplay for our campers with a daily winner).
