Universal Tennis Creates the Wes Fuller/Universal Tennis Scholarship Award

A high school senior in the state of Georgia will receive $5,000 for college tuition, in memory of Wes Fuller

Palo Alto, CA - UniversalTennis.com today announced the creation of the 2023 Wes Fuller Tennis Scholarship Award, which will go toward a student's college tuition.

Based in the greater Atlanta area, Wes Fuller was a pioneer in the tennis coaching industry as a moderator, innovator, and hands-on teaching professional. He mentored hundreds of national and internationally-ranked players on their pathway to college tennis.

In 2010, Fuller founded Competitive Tennis Coaches (CTC) — one of the largest coaching groups on Facebook with over 42,000 members — as a place for coaches to network and share ideas. The group was designed as a discussion forum to aid in the education and development of top junior and prospective college and tour players.

The $5,000 award will be given to a Class of 2023 graduating high school senior in the state of Georgia.

After a long battle with illness, Fuller passed away in April 2022. He is survived by his wife Montrese and two daughters, Alex and Alena.

"It’s exciting that a student in Georgia will receive a scholarship award in memory of my husband to support their education and development in the tennis arena,” Montrese Fuller said. “Wes always strived to make a difference in the lives of others, and this is such a fitting tribute that he would be so proud of."

"The impact that Wes Fuller had in the Georgia tennis community is tremendous and felt globally,” said Universal Tennis Vice President Chase Hodges. “Wes was a true visionary in the sport of tennis and influenced the minds of countless individuals in the tennis profession. The 2023 Wes Fuller/Universal Tennis Scholarship will impact a Class of 2023 high school senior and Universal Tennis is honored to be associated with coach Fuller."

High school seniors will be able to submit applications for the award, and the recipient will be selected by a committee. For more information, please email Universal Tennis at hsteam@universaltennis.com.
