KHSAA’s partnership with Universal Tennis will incorporate the UTR Rating in all high school tennis starting with the 2022 spring season
(Palo Alto, Calif.) - Universal Tennis and the Kentucky High School Athletic Association (KHSAA) announce the adoption of the UTR Rating for all KHSAA schools starting with the 2022 spring season.
Universal Tennis will enable year-round match reporting of results for the schools, including the use of UTR Rating for automated entry and seeding purposes for use at both regional and state tournaments.
The adoption of Universal Tennis means the need for paper results to be submitted will be eliminated, helping prevent a lack of data and/or inaccurate data from being submitted or withheld. Schools will use the Universal Tennis software programming and bracketings for all region tournaments and the state tournament.
The KHSAA governs competitions for both public and private schools in the state and two federally administered schools.
“We are excited for our tennis programs in Kentucky as the KHSAA partners with Universal Tennis,” said KHSAA Associate Commissioner Butch Cope. “Not only will it bring increased attention and exposure to tennis in our state, but it will also assist our region and state events as a source for credible information and provide tournament software management for those events. Universal Tennis’ customer service and support have already shown our member schools that adopting this service is easy and invaluable.”
The integration of Universal Tennis ensures all of Kentucky high school tennis has one centralized home and enables all players to have their scores count towards their Verified UTR Rating. With the UTR Rating being the gold standard of college recruitment, the KHSAA partnership opens more opportunities for student-athletes. Players will also be able to use the College Fit features of the technology platform to see where they rank in rosters across more than 900 U.S. collegiate teams.
“We are excited to be partnering with the Kentucky High School Athletic Association,” said Stephen Amritraj, Universal Tennis Chief Tennis Officer. “High school players will benefit greatly from level-based competition and their matches will impact their UTR Rating, ultimately helping them on their journey to college tennis.”
For coaches, utilizing Universal Tennis’ free high school products allow schedules and results to be integrated into one place and tournaments to be seeded effectively and accurately based on objective UTR Ratings.
