Monthly Spotlight: Universal Tennis Reveals Event, Club, and Newcomer for December

2 minute read

Providers created tennis events and matchplay opportunities all over the world in December. Universal Tennis is recognizing the event, club, and newcomer of the month for the past month.

Club of the Month: Sportime Randall’s Island (New York, NY)

Sportime Randall's Island, home of the John McEnroe Academy, hosted seven events in December with over 200 players taking part. Sportime has hosted over 160 events since joining the Universal Tennis platform.

In December alone, the club ran a prize money series, a matchplay series, two wild card money events, and a UTR Pro Tennis Tour (PTT) event. The wild card events awarded the winners a place in the PTT New York Men's $25K Hard 1, held during the final week of December. It marked the first men's PTT event in New York after a women's event was held in August. TCU junior Luc Fomba defeated Brian Shi for the PTT title.

Newcomer of the Month: Thai Tennis Friendship Group (Bangkok, Thailand)

The Thai Tennis Friendship Group created its first-ever Universal Tennis event with an adult doubles round-robin. It was an instant success with over 130 players in the age 30-75 categories competing across two days.

The Thai Tennis Friendship Association was started in 2012 to help create more playing opportunities for adults in Thailand.

Event of the Month: TNT Tennis: December Singles (Fort Worth, Texas)

TNT Tennis held a singles-only, one-day event on December 4 to help players improve their UTR Rating. Matches were best-of-three short sets held at two high schools in the Fort Worth area. Over 110 players of all ages competed in 14 compass draws based on UTR Rating. Every player was guaranteed a minimum of three matches.

TNT Tennis is a tennis management company created in 2009 that runs yearlong programs at six different sites, hosting events for players of all ages and levels.
